Aircraft Maintenance Engineering

As the backbone of the skies, Aircraft Maintenance Engineers ensure that every aircraft soars with confidence, maintaining impeccable standards of safety, airworthiness, and performance. In this dynamic field, at Utkal Aerospace Engineering, you'll delve into the intricacies of aircraft systems, from engines to avionics, mastering the art of diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance. With hands-on training and cutting-edge technology, you'll become the guardian of flight, equipped to tackle any challenge that takes to the skies.

In India, the AME course is regulated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), which sets standards and guidelines for training and certifying aircraft maintenance professionals. Utkal Aerospace Engineering stands as one of the best DGCA-approved AME training institute in India, offering a comprehensive curriculum covering various aspects of aircraft systems, structures, and engines through theoretical and practical training modules in two main categories of AME courses:

Aircraft Maintenance Engineering B1.1 (Mechanical)

Aircraft Maintenance Engineering B2 (Avionics)

AMEs are the unsung heroes of the aviation industry. With opportunities spanning airlines, Maintenance and Repair Organizations (MROs), and aircraft manufacturing companies, their expertise is indispensable. In India's burgeoning aviation sector, the demand for skilled AMEs is on the rise. Utkal Aerospace Engineering is at the forefront, offering comprehensive courses tailored to industry needs.

The significance of AMEs cannot be overstated. They hold the key to maintaining the integrity of aircraft, safeguarding countless lives each day. According to international standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a specialised body of the United Nations for civil aviation affairs, as well as the Indian Aircraft Rules of 1937 and the Aircraft Act of 1934 passed by the Indian Parliament: 'No aircraft can be released to fly without certification from a licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME).'

In other words, any aircraft registered in India, whether it belongs to a private or government airline, government department, business, flying club, or emergency services such as air ambulance, can’t fly unless it has been certified for its airworthiness (safe operation) by a licensed AME. These licences are issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India, as per the CAR-66 regulation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) is that branch of engineering, which deals with the inspection, repair, maintenance, associated troubleshooting of an aircraft. All aircraft operated across the world requires to be maintained at very high standards as laid down by the ICAO(International Civil Aviation Organisation), which is a specialized agency of the United Nations. In India, Directorate General of Civil Aviation is the regulatory authority for implementing these high standards of ICAO, under the ministry of civil aviation, Govt of India.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) is a person licensed by the regulatory authority of the countries under the guidelines of ICAO. An AME is responsible for the safety and maintenance of an aircraft. No aircraft can fly without its issuance of certificate of release to service by an appropriately Qualified Licensed AME. Thus, an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer shoulders the responsibility of aircraft safety and the personnel onboard.

Students who are passed their Class Xll examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from a recognized board or university or Three Year Diploma ( Mechanical, Electrical ,Electronics and Aeronautical) or it’s equivalent are eligible to apply. Students must also be medically-fit. Foreign students need to obtain security clearance through DGCA for admission to the course.

AME course is recognized and approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India. It also coordinates all regulatory functions with International Civil Aviation Organisation. DGCA is the sole regulatory body for civil aviation activities in India. This course need not be recognized by AICTE/UGC/NCTE etc.

After completion, of the course, a student may consider many career choices to associate with the national and international civil aviation industry as an assistant technician, technician, trainee engineer. There are numerous companies like scheduled airlines, cargo airlines, non-scheduled airlines, air charter service, aircraft maintenance repair organisation and component maintenance repair organisation, flying clubs, State Government (Civil Aviation Department), PSU (Public Sector Undertaking) hangers, technical publications, etc. in India and abroad where AME aspirants can start their career. Apart from civil aviation in India, there are several other Job prospects where AME candidates are being absorbed like Foreign Aviation Industries, Défense Aviation Industries, Aviation IT Organization, On-wing Maintenance Support, Training Organizations, Manufacturing Organisation etc.
