At Utkal Aerospace & Engineering, we are dedicated to building the next generation of aviation professionals through a specialized Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) program that blends technical education with real-world experience. Approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India, our three-year program is offered at our advanced training facility in Bhubaneswar and is crafted to meet the growing demands of the global aviation industry.
This course is designed in strict alignment with DGCA guidelines, providing a balanced mix of theoretical instruction and hands-on training. Our mission is to prepare students to take on critical responsibilities in aircraft safety, maintenance, and performance, turning them into skilled professionals ready for careers in one of the world’s fastest-growing industries.
Backed by the prestigious Sha-Shib Group—the largest organisation in South Asia offering Aircraft Maintenance Engineering training under CAR 147 (Basic)—Utkal Aerospace & Engineering offers students a unique opportunity to gain insights into actual aircraft operations and maintenance practices. Our Bhubaneswar campus features fully equipped workshops, modern classrooms, and a dedicated aircraft hangar that houses:
A Learjet 25B powered by a GECJ620 Turbojet Engine
A Beech Bonanza A-35 equipped with a Continental E-185-I Piston Engine
These live aircraft provide our students with the opportunity to apply their learning in a real, hands-on environment.
Our training facilities are further enhanced by state-of-the-art laboratories, including instrument labs, electrical and radio navigation labs, airframe shops, machine shops, and jet/piston engine labs. Each space is meticulously maintained to ensure students receive practical exposure that mirrors industry conditions. The in-house technical library adds a valuable academic resource to complement classroom learning.
In collaboration with leading aviation organizations such as MAS-GMR and Air India, we offer industry tie-ups that provide practical training opportunities and exposure to real-time aircraft maintenance and repair tasks. Additionally, Utkal Aerospace & Engineering functions as a DGCA-approved MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) organization under CAR 145, offering students first-hand understanding of aviation maintenance standards and procedures.
Students can choose their specialization in one of the following AME streams:
This stream focuses on the maintenance of aircraft with turbine engines, covering airframe systems, engine components, and structural repairs.
This stream centers on the electronic systems of an aircraft, including communication, navigation, radar, and instrumentation systems.
Both streams are structured to develop a deep understanding of aircraft systems and ensure students are well-prepared for licensing as per CAR-66 regulations laid down by DGCA.
To enhance career opportunities, Utkal Aerospace & Engineering also offers students the option to pursue additional academic qualifications such as B.Sc. or BBA alongside their AME training. This dual-focus approach not only strengthens their technical credentials but also equips them with academic and managerial skills needed in the wider aviation ecosystem.
